Frequently asked questions
Why does Uber share my data with its advertising partners?
We share your data with Uber partners to help us personalize the ads you see. For example, we share data with social media companies such as Facebook and TikTok to display ads personalized to you, and measure the effectiveness of those ads, on their platforms.
We also share your data with Uber partners to help us personalize the ads for other companies.
What data does Uber share with its advertising partners for purposes of personalized ads?Down Small
Depending on your settings, we may share information such as the ad identifier for your mobile device, or “hashed” versions of your email address or phone number. Hashing is a one-way process that converts your data into a string of letters and numbers, which Uber uses to secure (and avoid sharing) original data values with partners while allowing them to match to your data. We may also share information regarding your usage of Uber’s apps and websites, such as your trip, order and search history, and your current trip information.
Who are the partners with whom Uber shares my data?Down Small
We share your data with Uber service providers, ad platform providers, and other business partners. These include:
Publishers, including marketing and ad partners and marketing platform providers on which Uber displays its ads, such as Google Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, and others social media platforms. We share your data with publishers to serve ads to you on their websites and to help us understand how those ads perform.
Ad intermediaries and ad technology providers with whom Uber shares data to personalize, display, and measure the effectiveness of ads, such as TripleLift, The Trade Desk, Google, Criteo, Rokt and others. These include ads servers and technology vendors that support media buying and selling. We share data with these intermediaries -- including ad or device identifier, hashed email address, approximate location, current trip or order information, and ad interaction data -- to enable their services and for such other purposes as are disclosed in their privacy notices.
Measurement and Analytics vendors which provide aggregate reporting on the performance and effectiveness of our ad campaigns and services, as well as research partners performing surveys or research projects in partnership with Uber or on Uber’s behalf.

Will I still see ads if I opt-out? Down Small
If you opt-out, you will still see ads, but they’ll be only targeted based on your approximate location, time of day and current trip or order information, and therefore, may be less relevant to you.
